January 2012 Quilts Part One

I can't believe it is 2012 already. It seems like yesterday it was 1980----boy am I dating myself.

At any rate these are some quilts from this month. All were beautiful and fun to do.

This sampler quilt was brought to me by Hazel. She did a great job on it. Lots of different fabrics and colors. A great Sampler.

This is Jean's quilt, quilted with a new pattern I've just gotten, Brenda's Tulips. Jean used a variety of yellows and not a lot of busy fabrics so the quilting really shows up. Love this one.

This is Gloria's Christmas quilt. Now is she on the ball or what? She is already ready for NEXT Christmas. Way to go.

Barbara made this quilt for her daughter. She said it just kept growing and it did. It's very large with lots of different blues, greens, with an occasional frog, cattail and dragonfly. It is difficult to photograph to show all the different areas on this one.

To add a little mystery to this one I threw in a hidden dragonfly, frog, and lily pad here and there.

Susan made this very pretty applique quilt in reds and greens. It is really much prettier in person than in this photo.

Betty made this cute little child's quilt with airplanes. What little boy wouldn't like this one?

Delia made 2 quilts like this for 2 fellas. The fabrics used were from their mother's clothes. What a treasure to have this.

Betty once again has made not one, but two beautiful wool applique quilts. The pictures cannot do them justice. The are both so strikingly beautiful. The wool gives them such dimension. And yes---they are both very large. I tried to take several pictures to show different areas, but the quilts are so much more gorgeous.

That was the first one and the one below is the second. Unfortunately I can't post all of the pictures on this one blog post so I will have to add a second one. Just too many pictures.

Merry Christmas December 2011

I hope every one has a wonderful Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Thank you to all of my friends that have asked me to quilt their quilts this year. It has been a lot of fun and the quilts I've seen this year were fantastic. I appreciate the opportunity to be part of your quilting life and an am privileged to not only quilt such beautiful quilts, but have so many quilting friends.

The colors in this quilt that Collette made are so great. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Delia put this sweet quilt together for a friend. It is a memory quilt, made from the clothes of a dear relative.

This is Delia's Christmas candle quilt. The pattern is one of Kathy's from Lavender Lime and Delia's choice of fabrics made it truly elegant.

Jayne made this really beautiful French Braid quilt. It turned out so cute and the fabrics are wonderful.

Janice made this lovely quilt. It is one of my favorites.

Hazel made this very large photo quilt for someone else and it really turned out great! The photos and the design of the quilt were great.

Since it's Christmas, I must post some pictures of my kitties in their Santa hats. Usually Bentley (the white cat) is a ham when it comes to having his picture taken. I guess he didn't care for the new Santa hat this year. Finnegan is curious as to what that thing is on his head.

Nicholas is not particularly fond of the hat either--but he's tolerating it.

Finnegan thought something had him by the head and isn't budging with that hat on his head. He looks so happy! Poor kitty.

This is a picture of Jonathan in his Christmas garb from a previous Christmas. Unfortunately he didn't make it to this Christmas. He passed away on Dec. 20th of renal failure. He was almost 15, which is very young for our cats to pass away. He was so sweet and never a problem kitty. He slept with us every night and loved his tummy rubs. We called him Johnny Bear because he looked like a little black bear when we rescued him. Sweet boy we will miss you!

November Quilts

It's December already and time to post some of the quilts people are finishing in time for the holidays. It's so much fun to see all of the different quilts that people are doing.

Janice did a great job on this cute little Christmas package quilt.

What a cute Christmas Tree quilt that Bobbie made. Very festive!!!!

Joan is at it again with her beautiful batik quilts. This was an extremely large bed quilt. Unfortunately the true colors do not show in this photograph, but it is gorgeous.

Betty's star quilt is so pretty. The background is an aged muslin making the stars stand out.

Kim's quilt is full of beautifully embroidered nurses with bright orange and pink fabric. Very cute!!!

Janice made this lovely quilt. She always does a fantastic job.

Another quilt from Kim. Love that pink and green.

Trudy made this pretty one. Great job.

Jean made this one which she said she didn't like, but I love the jewel tone colors.

This is Terri's batik quilt. The fabric choices are fantastic.

Gloria made this one. It's Elephants on Parade.... and because of that there are elephants marching around the border and through the quilt. Very cute and the fabric is great.

Another pink and green quilt from Kim. Very nice!!!

Cheryl made this beautiful Over the River and Through the Woods quilt. The black, beige and cream fabrics are so gorgeous together, but Cheryl went one step further. She embroidered her family names in the border making it even more special. It is spectacular.

This is also Cheryl's Winter Wonderland quilt done with, red, blue and green snowmen. Great job!

October Quilts

Vicki brought me her beautiful Mariner's Compass quilt top to quilt for her. It was so much fun. She did a wonderful job.

Jeanene made not one, but TWO Civil War Club quilts based on the club at Lavender Lime. They are both beautiful. Great job Jeanene.

Hazel made 2 similar flower garden quilts. Very pretty.

Melinda made this great quilt from strips of plaid fabrics. What a great guys quilt. It is even more beautiful in person.

Susan did a great job on this teal and brown wall hanging.

Betty has been busy again completing these two quilts. The first is a really cute Snowman quilt with applique. The other is a great French General fabric quilt using the Lavender Lime Sassy and Sophisticated pattern. Go Betty!

Jayne made this cute doggie quilt so it was only fitting that she have little doggie bones quilted on it.

Delia made this beautiful cherry quilt. Love the fabrics and the pattern.

Cheryl and her little granddaughter made this very pretty quilt. It had to have little snowflakes in the pattern.

Toni made this great bulls eye quilt. I love all the different fabrics in this quilt.

September Quilts and an October Wedding

September was a busy month. With quilts to quilt and our son's upcoming wedding there was lots to do.

This is Debby's precious quilt with the cute little whales. Didn't she do a great job?

This beautiful Winter Wonderland quilt and the pretty "10 minute block" quilt below belong to Sandi. Love them!!!

Delia made this fun baby quilt---just in time for the new baby. Beautiful!

This is Jayne's lovely quilt. It's a very nice pattern, and the colors of coral, gold and black make it outstanding. Beautiful job!

Pat made this precious bunny quilt. It is just so sweet. Who doesn't love bunnies?

This is the Civil War Tribute quilt and I actually made it--YEAH. I finally finished one of mine. It is a very large king size quilt 102" x 116" and lots and lots of piecing. I started it last January and finished it in time to give to my son's future in-laws prior to their wedding. I was told they liked traditional and this is traditional as it gets. I hope they like it.

For some reason this picture is rotated, but it is Beverly's beautiful quilt made for her son. Each hand embroidered block represents something special to him. The batik fabrics made a perfect setting.

I must add a couple of wedding pictures taken at my son's recent wedding. He and his new bride have been together 9 years and had a unbelievably beautiful wedding in Jacksonville, Oct 8. They are a great couple and I am so lucky to not only have the best son anywhere, but the best and most beautiful daughter-in-law. I am doubly blessed.

The wedding was wonderful and except for the down pouring of rain everything was perfect. I am just so happy for them, I have to share their pictures.

This is the bride and groom with one of their step sisters and step brothers. What a fun wedding it was.

I love this picture of the bride. She was so gorgeous in her dress. The dress had lots of bead work and the 3 flower girls were so beautiful in their white dresses with the red roses in the back and the rose petals in the bottom of there dresses. Everyone had a wonderful time as you can see.

August and the Heat

Wow, it has been incredibly hot this summer. All the better for staying indoors and quilting. I'm for that for sure. I might even get some of my own quilts done this summer.

These are some of the quilts completed in August--all beautiful and true treasures.

Robyn made this great batik quilt for her daughter's room. Very bright and cheerful. I love those batiks.

Beth made this really cute quilt for her little boy.

Linda made this gorgeous stained glass quilt for her church. The colors are just perfect.

Lynette made this one. The plaids and stripes make it just so cute!

Sherri made this very pretty scrappy quilt. I love the pattern.

Martha made this gorgeous Crown if Thorns quilt, a Judy Niemeyer pattern. What a lot of work she put into this one, but it is just spectacular. I tried to mimic the design in the quilt with the quilting. What fun!

This next one belongs to Beth. What a great pattern and the flying geese are 3-D.

Spring Hill Quilt Show Viewer's Choice

Nancy Packard asked me to quilt this quilt that was to be entered in the Spring Hill Quilt Show in August. Nancy used crayon painting to simulate applique with these beautiful leaves, butterflies and dragonflies. She scattered rhinestones throughout to add more pizzazz.

A beautiful quilt. The viewers thought so too and she won VIEWER'S CHOICE--1st PLACE.

Congratuations Nancy and thank you for asking me to quilt it.

July Quilts

I have finally posted quilts for July. Yeah! I must say I have been busy thru July and August. Aside from quilting we have taken a few weeks vacation. I'm staying on top of my quilting now that I am home, but posting on my blog is another story. Well, here goes. So sorry to be so far behind, but I'll try to do better.

Lana made this really darling 30's baby quilt. Very sweet.

Connie made this really nice T shirt quilt. A great memory quilt.

These 2 quilts are Kathy's. I love the USA map. It has all the capitols. What a great find for a kids quilt. The ABC quit is one of my favortites.

Lynette made this very cute jungle quilt. Great job!

Karol made this wall hanging for a new dental clinic that is opening soon. What a pretty wall hanging to have in the office. It just gives you that "home", "I care about you feeling".

Linda made this very nice scrappy quilt. Lots of piecing on this oine.

AHHHHH Winter wonderland! This is Beverly's beautiful one. Snowmen everywhere in this one.

Delia made this very cute black and red cherry quilt. Of course there are cherries quilted on it.

May Flowers and New Quilts

My hydrangea and lavender have bloomed. I can't say which I love more as flowers, my irises or my hydrangea. The hydrangea last so much longer and they are next to my back porch, so that I can see them more often to enjoy. The summer heat isn't making them too happy though. The lavender smells so good.

This is Betty's beautiful Over and Under quilt. Sorry the picture is so blurry. Betty, as always does a wonderful job on her quilts.

This is Paulette's 30's reproduction quilt. The quilt is so pretty. Paulette wanted it quilted just like the quilt in the magazine, which I must say was a LOT of detail and a LOT of quilting. It turned out very cute. We were both very happy with this one.

Janice made this very pretty quilt. As always a super job.

Betty made this terrific quilt and asked that it be custom quilted. Her quilts are always gorgeous and this one is no exception. Again a LOT of quilting on this one.

This is the border with little pearl feathers.

Sometimes you can see the detail better on the back of the quilt. These are the block patterns.

This is the 2009 Saturday Sampler that Jeanene finished. Great job!

Another one from Joan. This owl quilt is really cute. It is much cuter than this photo shows. The colors and fabrics are wonderful and Joan is just so creative.

Another of Joan's quilts with flowers appliqued in the blocks. The colors with very vivid giving this a snappy modern look.

Trudy made this very sweet quilt. She did a great job on it. Love the fabrics in this one.

Sandy made this quilt in the Lavender Lime Civil War Love Letters Club. It turned out just beautiful.

April Showers and Much More

Finally my beautiful irises have bloomed. I wish they would stay longer, but at least some will bloom again a little later. The purple ones are my favorites, but I seem to have so many more of the pink ones which are not very vivid in color. If I can only keep these coming back very year to enjoy.

I am behind in getting my blog posted this month. Between working at Lavender Lime and getting all my customers quilts done there hasn't been much time for blogging or anything else. I was lucky to quilt some beautiful customer quilts again this month.

Betty made not one, but two of these tumbling block quilts. Go Betty!

These are Janice's quilts. The one below is with the Morris Tapestry fabric. As usual a terrific job.

The quilting pattern is called Dreamy Clouds.

This one is Sandi's Roll,Roll Cotton Boll. A beautiful quilt--well done Sandi!

This quilt was done by Bill Klingensmith--yes, Bill our sewing machine technician. He did a terrific job on his first quilt. I wish my picture of it was better in order to show the whole wall hanging with the beautiful batik fabrics. Watch out Melissa--he'll be into your fabric stash.

One of Delia's Sassy and Sophisticated quilts. The colors were fantastic.

Melinda did this really pretty Christmas quilt. Now she is ahead of all of us with the Christmas projects. Go Melinda! The next picture shows the back with the poinsettia pattern.

This is a very old Lone Star quilt from Lewis. The fabrics included velvet, poplin, and a little of everything.

Joy made this really gorgeous quilt. Unfortunately the picture does not do it justice. It started out as a Quilting 101 sampler quilt and she expanded it into a much larger quilt with wonderful borders. The colors in the picture do not show the teals, greens and golds accurately. On the back, Joy appliqued beautiful butterflies so she chose a butterfly pattern for quilting. I wish my pictures had turned out better so that you could see how great the colors were. The picture also rotated itself for some reason.

This is Margaret's pretty little 1930's quilt with applique. Very nice!!

Scottie made this lovely quilt as a wedding memories quilt. The quilt top was signed by friends and family at the wedding. A great keepsake.

Carolene made this great 1930's style quilt. Very lovely!

Judy did a beautiful job, as usual on this quilt. She was working on it at Red Rooster in January.

Laura made this lovely quilt. Again, the colors don't show as bright as the were, but it is red with black and white. Good job Laura.

This is the back and the pattern is Antique Lace.

This is Dana's quilt which was made by Jean. It has cute little bird houses. Very nice.

Betty made this really beautiful Winter Wonderland quilt. Traditionally it is made with red embroidery and red and white fabrics, but Betty used green embroidery and gave it more of a scrappy look with the fabrics. Very pretty. I wish my photo had turned out better. The quilting pattern is Snowday.

May Claire made this quilt for her daughter. It is so beautiful with the bright colors against the black. Who wouldn't love to take this quilt to college with them.

Janice made this great quilt with Lilac Hill fabric for a friend. The photo just doesn't do it justice. It is really beautiful. I love those fabrics.

Sandi made this large 4 patch batik quilt. The fabrics are terrific and a wonderful quilt. The quilt pattern is Sunday.

March Quilts and Tulips

Our tulips are up and blooming. Can't wait for the Irises and Hydrangea to start blooming.......and some warmer weather.

These next 2 quilts are Jean's. Beautiful blues, and greens.

For some reason the picture is flipped, but the design is "hummingbirds" and it is beautiful on quilts.

This design is "Chocolate Leaves" It has a lot of oversytitching and is really pretty when quilted out.

Marge made this very cute patriotic wall hanging.

Kim's quilt is embroidered with little colorful fairies. This new quilting design is "Splatt" and one of my new favorites.

Another of Kim's quilt with minky backing. The quilt pattern here is ocean froth.

This pattern is "Antique Lace", a very pretty, flowing design. The quilt was made my Diana for her daughter Barbara. Beautiful pastels.

This is Janice's great quilt made from the Silk Road fabric line. The quilting design is "Florence".

Another beautiful quilt from Janice. This one is Log Cabin with Flying Geese. The quilting pattern is "Oak & Acorn"

This quilt was a little flannel kit from Lavender Lime. The design is "Hypnotic"

Kim made this really cute embroidered baby quilt. The design is "Sailin"

More Colorful Quilts

Quilt, quilts, quilts and more quilts. These are some of the recent ones posted for this month.

This is Kim's quilt for a co-worker who is expecting a new arrival soon. The embroidered ABC's are so cute. They are so lucky to receive this quilt.

Here's another embroidered quilt by Kim. This one has sweet little baby buggies.

Janice made this large colorful quilt. I'm not sure why the picture is rotated. It sure looked beautiful on my guest room bed.

Lorraine made this pretty quilt for a friend. Great job.

Jean did this one and selected one of my newer designs. The hummingbirds looked great on this quilt.

Rachel bought the pattern for this quilt (Alaska Mountains) in Alaska. She used a variety of fabrics. It is very large and a special memory of her trip to Alaska.

Vivian made this Turning Twenty quilt of red, black and white. The fabrics had dragonflies and so I quilted dragonflies.

Joan made this lovely scrappy quilt.

Some January Quilts

Well, I'm back in action for January. A nice few days at Red Rooster in Alabama and I'm geared up for more quilting. It was a great time with good friends, good food and fun sewing.

Betty made this cute little sea animal quilt. Very sweet.

Lewis brought me another antique quilt pieced by Mama Leona. Nice applique.

Teresa's cute flannel Sassy & Sophisticated quilt. It looks so cozy and warm.

Ta-Dah !!!! Gail finished her Winter Wonderland quilt. It's hard to tell in the photo, but the background in a beautiful shade of pinkie beige. It looks terrific with the red embroidery.

Jean made this great red, brown and beige quilt. Very nice Jean.

This is Amanda's red and blue star quilt. Very, very nice.

Connie's cute star quilt. Very pretty.

Dawn's red and cream quilt is very pretty. It really looks good on the bed.

Dawn's stained glass quilt is very striking. It was such fun to quilt too. I love the bunny.

Amy made this great batik heart quilt. Beautiful job !!

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to All

I couldn't resist wishing everyone Happy New Year along with a big THANK YOU for all of the spectacular quilts you have allowed me to quilt for you this year. Each and every one was very special, beautiful and a true treasure. I know those that were gifts for others were very much appreciated.

I also couldn't help posting some pictures of out kitties (our babies) and the snow over the Holidays. We got about 4" and it was a real White Christmas.

After Christmas we brought home a couple of new pillows and placed them on the sofa. Bentley jumps up, smells them and plops down, as if to say---"Well, here I am. Take my picture" What a HAM!!!! He is the same cat that when he is bad and we yell "BENTLEY !!! ", walks himself into the bathroom and gives himself a time out.

Getting Ready for Christmas

It has been a very busy season this year in getting quilts finished in time for Christmas in Oct, Nov and Dec. I've been so busy quilting and working at Lavender Lime that I haven't had time to post any pictures. I'm taking a little break before gearing back up again. Here are a few of the quilts completed.

This is a little challenge quilt finished by Linda. I love the little 3D bow ties.

Lewis has this quilt which he received from Mama Leone. Another family treasure.

Betty made these 2 rail fence quilts. They are so cute and cheery.

Debby finished her 2009 Saturday Sampler from Lavender Lime---go Debby! (Mine is still in pieces.)

Jeaneane's quilt is really cute with the brown accents.

Betty's tumbling block quilt is really striking with the black background. I love tumbling block quilts.

This is also another one of Betty's wool applique quilts which is just gorgeous.

Another one of Janice's beauties.

This is Libby's gorgeous red and white quilt.

Betty did a great job on this quilt. The colors in this picture are not true, but the quilt is still beautiful.

This is June's very large and beautiful log cabin quilt that she made for her bed. The quilt is much more striking and rich in color in person than in the picture.

Jeaneane had 2 little circus quilts like this. They were so bright and cheerful with yellow and white stripped backing. Very cute.

This is Jerry's gorgeous purple and yellow tumbling block. This is a very large quilt. Too bad the pictures don't show just how beautiful the colors really are.

Jean has been extremely busy this year. Another beautiful purple quilt with an iris pattern.

Penny made this cute Construction quilt with minky border and backing. It turned out so cute and has construction quilting designs on it.

Debby is at it again with this cute Christmas quilt.

Diane used Kathy's new pattern "Through the Pane" to make this quilt out of the "Pure" fabric line of blue and browns.It really turned out great. Kathy's patterns are always fun to do. They are quick, beautiful and don't take a large number of different fabrics.

Joyce made this quilt with turquoise and brown batiks. It turned out great, The colors are wonderful together and she did a great job.

Wanda made this very large and beautiful applique quilt with blues on a white background. Anyone would love to receive this for a gift.

Melissa made this for a friend as a thank you gift. It turned out so nice, The horses and colors make it so rich.

This is Debby's little Happy quilt. It is happy isn't it? You go girl.

Ann wanted this reversible comforter quilted for her daughter. Very cute with the reds and greens on one side and the reds, greens and golds on the other.

These 2 pictures are Sandy's quilt with feathers in the border. This turned out so pretty and the open area in the border just needed those feathers.

The last one (for now) is Teresa's large colorful quilt. The colors are really vibrant. Another family treasure.

More October Quilts

Here are a few more quilt completed in October. November promises to be just as busy with the pre-Christmas rush.

Jeaneane finished her beautiful Winter Wonderland quilt from this years club at Lavender Lime. She did it it in blue and white instead of red and white and it is gorgeous.

These are Jean's quilt and they are large and very pretty. Jean has been busy this year making quilts for her grandchildren. Great job!

The quilt above is Betty's beautiful Sassy & Sophisticated with a deep purple, green and yellow and just a touch of teal. Very, very nice.

Debby has been super busy with 3 quilts. The circus quilt above, the Hunky Dory quilt below and the red one with the flowers and bumblebees are all hers. Quilt On Debby!

October Quilts

The cooler weather has one of my assistants, Bentley burrowing down in my scrap basket. He is a character for sure.

This wedding ring quilt belongs to Hattie who inherited the top from her great grandmother. I'm so happy with the way it turned out and she is so lucky to have inherited this top.

Well, I have finally finished one of MY quilts. This is the quilt From My Garden Applique Quilt that I will be teaching next year at Lavender Lime. The picture does not show the colors accurately, but the inner border is purple. I really love this quilt. It was a lot of fun, considering I did machine applique instead of my first love, needle turn applique.

This quilt pattern is called "Through the Pane" and it was designed by Kathy Skomp at Lavender Lime for Northcott Fabrics. The advertisement is showing up in all the quilt magazines now.

This is another quilt pattern designed by Kathy for Northcott. This fabric has blues, greens, browns and white. The pattern is "Earthen".

Annette did this cute pirate quilt for her grandson. The colors are fantastic. He is going to love it.

Betty did this incredible quilt. It has an unbelievable amount of detail in the wool applique. There are several closer pictures, but the pictures cannot show how gorgeous it is. The binding has not been added yet so the edges were flopping a little when I tried to hang it for a picture.

Starting in January of 2011 I will be having an Applique Workshop and Club as one of the new Clubs at Lavender Lime. The following are most of the blocks from the quilt we will be making in that club. I still need to put the blocks together in their setting by the Fall Festival on Oct 23rd.

It's hard to believe that September is almost over. Where is all that cool fall weather?
I guess we'll have to go in search of some. We are planning little trip just to get away. Hope we do find some cooler weather.

This was a shop sample for Lavender Lime. We had these Martinique kits that are beautiful. This quilt is a smaller version of the kit which is 80 x 90. I love the colors.

This quilt is one of two made by Janice. The picture really doesn't show how the lime looks against the black and white fabrics. Very nice.

This is the second quilt made by Janice. A white, blue scrappy quilt. Beautiful!

I love this red and white scrappy quilt. So simple in pattern, but beautiful. Great job Carolene.

This quilt was brought to me by a lady from Atlanta. She found these old, sweet, embroidered blocks and made them into large bedside quilt and brought it to me for quilting.

The one is also made by Kim and is "The 12 days of Christmas" with all the embroidery. It's hard to see the detail of the quilting on the red fabric, but it's there.

Well, I have finally posted some of the quilts completed in July. I always enjoy looking at quilts that others have done. It gives me inspiration for future projects. Enjoy!

Lorraine pieced this really pretty Christmas quilt and it turned out so nice.

This is one of Cheryl's quilts. She did a Sassy & Sophisticated pattern and the fabrics are wonderful.

This little quilt with all the circles was done by Sandy. Circles is definitely the name of the game here.

This is Janice's lovely quilt. Very soft and feminine.

This quilt was pieced by Terri. The style is very simple and the batik fabrics are great.

This green and blue quilt is just beautiful. The picture does not do it justice. The colors are bright and all different shades of green.

Darlene did this lovely baby quilt with black, white and pale pink. Very cute. Bet you can't guess what the baby's name will be.

This is a cute scrappy quilt made by Beth. The close up view is supposed to show the motorcycles in the quilt pattern. It was definitely a boys quilt with that going on.

I have been so busy quilting and working at Lavender Lime that I haven't had time for blogging. Let me catch up with at least some of the quilts I have done.

Angelia did this great quilt made from her husbands oxford shirts. She did Dresden Plates in half of the blocks and used the plackets where the buttons are for the inner border. How unique and cute is that?

Carolyn made this very large and beautiful quilt. It's hard to see the true colors, but one fabric is yellow and the other a deep red. Really nice!

Kim made this quilt for a coworker, who's wife had a baby. Kim does a lot of embroidery and this one had nursery rhymes embroidered on it. It is so sweet.

Janice made this one which has little eggs in the fabric. The backing is all eggs. I love the colors. This quilt just makes me smile.

These 2 quilts are from Linda. They are so cute . The quilting is butterflies all over.

This quilt belongs to Amy and she chose a pretty pattern with soft smooth curves. He mother actually finished the quilt using some fabrics from her grandmothers clothes. Priceless and beautiful.

Penny made these 2 very beautiful quilts. They are so striking with the black and purple and black and hot pink. They were also very large.

Another beauty from Kim. This was a mystery quilt. You purchase the required amount of fabric and follow the directions, not knowing what the finished quilt will look like until you are finished. Beautiful!

Beth made this quilt for her son who is going to college soon. It has great colors of orange and dark blues. Lots of plaids and manly fabrics.

I have been so behind in posting pictures of quilts I have quilted. We went to the MQX long arm quilt meeting in Providence via Washington, DC and Lancaster, Pa which put me really behind in my postings. I will try to catch up. Hopefully I have not forgotten to take pictures of completed quilts, but it does happen when I am in a hurry to get them back to a customer.

This is the Lavender Lime Shop Hop quilt for this year. The theme is Christmas and I really love this quilt. The Fruitcake fabric is just perfect for using a variety of fabrics.

These 2 are Joan's quilts. She is so creative with scraps and colors. Beautiful !

This is a really pretty quilt made by Ann with large colorful pinwheels and cream/white background.

Amy made this really pretty quilt for her daughters wedding. Notice the heart in the center and the Blush fabric she used.

My 2 assistants (Bentley and Finnegan) in my quilting room. They have their own special place to sleep while I work. They are just so spoiled.

This quilt made by Stormy is just so gorgeous. Each block has uniquely embroidered shoes on a white background with a bright teal border and sashing. Unfortunately I took the picture with the overhead lights on instead of the flash and it doesn't look nearly as beautiful as it is. Stormy is going to add crystals on some of the shoes to give them some sparkle.

Bentley just couldn't get over those BIG snowflakes falling from the sky last week.

It's hard to believe we had so much snow one day and the next day it was all gone. It really is beautiful----but I'm ready for spring.

This is Melissa's beautiful Winter Wonderland quilt that she is doing in her club this year. The red is all hand embroidery. I love this quilt. One day I'll actually make one for myself.

For the quilting on this one I used a snowflake pattern.

This is Diana's gorgeous Lucky Stars quilt. The colors are so great together with batiks of teal and orange.

Janice made this great quilt. Just love it.

Janice has been a very busy girl. These 4 are wall hangings she recently finished. I love them.

Red Rooster Quilt Retreat

Thanks to Kathy Skomp for scheduling and arranging a wonderful 4 days at Red Rooster in Cullman, AL--and her insisting that I go. Little did I know what a wonderful time I'd have there.
The place which is situated on a lake was beautiful and comfortable, the food was spectacular (aka Southern Living) and the company fun and entertaining. I'll leave out the incriminating photos we took including the one of me licking my plate clean (just for fun).
The house was beautifully decorated with quilts and red roosters every where. The Christmas decorations were still up making it even more enchanting.

This is the front of the big house. There is another smaller one right down the road for smaller groups.
There is a lovely fireplace in the large room where we sewed. This room has french doors that lead outside overlooking the lake. How cozy is that?

There are a few bedrooms downstairs and more rooms upstairs. When anyone finished a project (quilt) they would take it upstairs and hang it over the railing. This is the second one I finished before dinner on the first full day there. It is just incredible how much you can get done there.

This was the first quilt I finished (the grey kitty quilt).

The dinning area was large and very inviting. This is one of the quilts in a section of the dinning room.

Here is our motley crew. Most days many of us worked all day without our hair combed, no makeup and some of us still in our PJs. Nothing to do but relax, quilt, laugh, eat, quilt, laugh, relax, eat, quilt, eat, quilt, eat and sleep. No interruptions. Boy, is that the life?

This is a little sitting area upstairs with a little library, a TV and a nice area to read or applique.

The food was incredible. Three home cooked meals a day with great menus served buffet style. Home made biscuits and hot yeast rolls were routine. The food could not be any better. You could smell what was cooking while you were in the big room sewing.We all tried to guess what was being prepared for our next meal. We never guessed right. They would ring the dinner bell (below) when ever the meal was ready. You would think we were all starving the way we jumped up and headed for the dinning room to check out the menu and meal.

The last days menu. YUM!!!

And as we bid goodbye and waddle away from out last luscious dessert of Cherry Cobbler topped and Vanilla Ice Cream we vow to return again for another grand stay at Red Rooster Retreat, Maybe by then we will have lost the weight we gained there.

I am so sorry that I have gotten very behind in posting on my blog. I was away at a quilting retreat in January and then my computer was on the frizz. UGGGHHH! Catching up on Christmas Quilts

Well, this is what my neighborhood woke up to this morning. It's mild by comparison to other areas of the country, I'm sure, but quite a lot for Chattanooga as we rarely get snow. It's still snowing out there.

I've had had quite a lot of quilts to finish in time for Christmas. several of them are not posted here, but these are a few of them. I'm am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel as I get caught up on all of them. It's been a busy November.

Renee's mother-in-law made this quilt. Lots of applique and great colors.

This little quilt was made by Nancy. The little girls on the beach are so precious. The pictures just don't show how cute it really is.

This is a quilt for the new printing of Sassy and Sophisticated. Great fabrics!

This is Tammy's first quilt, pieced in the Quilting 101 class. The traditional colors look great. Great job, Tammy!

This quilt is from Kathy's book Sassy and Sophisticated. The soft colors that Teresa used in this are so beautiful. The picture just doesn't do this quilt justice.

Quilt Updates

As you can see below, I've been pretty busy. I am now working at Lavender Lime 4 days/week and I am still keeping up with my quilting jobs. It's been pretty hectic lately so I haven't posted for a while, as you can understand why.

Here are a few of the quilts completed recently.

Connie made this cute little puppy quilt. I don't know why I didn't take a picture of the whole thing, but this corner was really cute.

Melissa did a great job on this quilt. It is quilted with flowers and bumblebees.

The following 2 quilts were made by Kim and her mother Beverly. The Figgy Pudding quilt below had 3-D Christmas trees which is stitched with garland and the snow whirling in the background. The other quilt has gorgeous jewel tone fabrics and even though it isn't noticeable, there is a LOT of stitching in there (crosshatching, cathedral windows, SID and circles).

Betty made this quilt using Kathy's Sassy and Sophisticated pattern. It turned out so good, she is making another just like it.

I love this little red and white pinwheel quilt made by Carolene. So cute.

This is Bobbie's beautiful quilt. I really love this log cabin. The colors are wonderful.

Having worked on my Jenny Haskins Hertiage Quilt since January it is FINALLY finished including the quilting. YEA!!!. It was a wonderful project and lots of fun. Most of the work was embroidery and every block was different, so you were always doing something new. Michele Whetstone was the club instructor for this and she was truly wonderful. She made it all so easy and fun. I'm not sure I would have had the nerve to tackle this without her support, knowledge and experience. Thanks Michele.

This is a little pillowcase dress I made for Catie. This one was made from new fabrics, but you can actually make it from a pillowcase. They are really beautiful when made from antique pillowcases that have antique lace or embroidery along the hem.

This is the back of one of Joan's quilts. The leaf pattern was so pretty and she always makes the best scrappy backs on her quilts.

Back From Vacation

Well, the winning name for my new Innova quilting machine with AutoPilot is....................MAX!

It's short for MAXIMUS which means "the greatest". I am having such a great time. Each morning when I go upstairs to quilt I just tap his touch screen and say "Wake up Max" and he wakes right up, ready to go. If only I could wake up that easily. I am looking forward to a lot of fun times with MAX. New patterns are being added on a regular basis to give my customers fresh, new choices.

My Innova, sitting in the garage waiting for someone to put her(him) together so I can play.

Here is my AutoPilot sitting in the garage, waiting to be installed.

This is the opening screen for my AutoPilot (computer driven quilting?. The computer as you can see is a 22" touchscreen, flat panel HP computer. It is attached to my 12' quilting frame and has a remote mouse so that I don't even have to walk over and touch the screen to pull up quilt designs and arrange it on the quilt. No keyboard needed here. Unbelievable technology. And with 500 GB of memory.

Keith and Michael (one of the developers) from ABM came from Houston to do the install.They came back and stayed until 10:30pm to finish my training because I had a class to teach at Lavender Lime from 5:30 to 8:30. How is that for great customer service?

When Michael turned it on I kept waiting to hear the sound of the energy packs turning on like in the Ghostbusters movie-but it was quiet as a mouse.

My new baby---just waiting for me to get home and use her (him).

She (he) needs a new name. I called my old one Lizzie (female) and she worked like a champ, but this one seems more male. Very strong, sturdy and with a picture of a stealth bomber---must be male. A woman would never think to put that image on a quilting machine.

Any suggestions for a name?

Blackberries Supreme

This has nothing to do with quilting.

When I was young and visited my cousin Becky in Andalusia in the summer we used to grab a pail, walk down the dirt road and pick wild blackerries to be made into a pie, or cobbler or just for eating out of the pail. It was such a treat.
This past Sunday, David and I went to Chattanooga Market which has different vendors every week, but usually some fresh vegetables that were picked that very morning along with other homemade or hand made items. This Sunday we bought fresh picked corn on the cob, young tender crooked neck squash and these blackberries. They are the biggest juiciest berries we have ever eaten. They just pop with favor in you mouth when you bite them YUM !
They were so huge, about the size of 2 quarters and we had to take a picture.

Naturally they had to have their very own quilt.

I made 2 quilts, similar, but different. One has more pink fabrics, the other more coral and yellow fabrics.

I embroidered applique animal using Minkee and chenille as the applique. Softer for the babies.

This is the Minkee back and it is hard to tell from this picture, but I did quilt big teddy bears all around the outer border.

This is a beautiful quilt with cross stitched blocks. Two sisters, Kim and Terri brought them to me and asked if I could do something with them since neither of them sew. Terri's Mom had done the cross stitch years ago based on flowers from States she had visited. Her Mom now has Alzheimers and they are hoping that seeing the cross stitch will bring back a little memory. Her cross stitch is just perfect, so I hope she enjoys her new quilt and she can remember something that brings joy to her.

This is a cute Christamas wall hanging done by Janice. She is really on the ball, getting this finished in July for the holiday season.

This quilt is a Lavender & Lime pattern (Sassy & Sophisticated) and was made by sweet Dorothy. The blue in the picture is actually purple and it is so pretty with the Oriental fabrics.

Isn't this a cute child's quilt? The doggies are made of Minkee, so they are soft and touchable. Patty made this quilt and I just love the colors and the doggies. Of course, if I made it, it would have to be with kitties.

I'll be spending most of today doing my embroidery home work for my Jenny Haskins Heritage quilt class What a fun class that is. Each block is so different and beautiful. I'll post more blocks later.

Isn't this a cute Kansas Troubles quilt? It is made with packs of Turnovers-- so very easy. Delia did a beautiful job on it, as usual. Now I have to make one for myself. Those Turnovers just make it so quick and simple. How can you go wrong and you can use all of the new fabric in a line of fabric.

Long Arm Quilting and Travels

My blog has been void of posts since we have been away traveling. Last week I attended the machine Quilter's Showcase in Overland Park, Kansas. This is a meeting for long arm quilters and it was very busy, but lots of great fun. I made some new friends from other areas of the country. I was fortunate to take some long arm classes from some of the best teachers and award winning quilters in the country such as Karen McTavish, Sue Patten, Judy Woodworth and Birget Schueller (from Germany). Judy won 5 awards at this show alone.

The vendor area was great with lots of gadgets for long arm quilters and the quilt show was spectacular. Boy I miss my machine and can't wait to get home to it.

From Overland Park, we headed west across Kansas (what a wide state), north into Jackson Hole, Wyoming and now are in West Yellowstone, Montana. We woke up to 22 degree this morning, but the weather channel says it will reach the 70's and 80's today and tomorrow.
The only problem is my cell phone died last night, so I guess I need to try to get it replaced today.

We are having a wonderful trip, but I can't wait to get back to Lavender Lime and my machine.

Little Finnegan is 3 yrs old today. He is the sensitive one that always wants me to pick him up. His 2 loves are kneading my left arm and watching the birdies and squirrels.

Little Nicholas (the kitty with the missing ears) is 3 yrs old today. In this picture he was 5 weeks old.

Also, Here is a beautiful quilt made by Beth. She used a small strip of bright green fabric down the side of the vertical sections in this quilt. It is just so unique and a beautiful quilt. She does such a great job--always.

Aren't these quilts just the cutest? The embroidery on the childs quilt is Winnie the Pooh, so I added the little bears all around the border. The other quilt is so whimsical with Loreli the Gyspy. These were pieced by Beverly and Kim. Great job !!!

A couple of new quilts

I just wanted to share a couple of quilts with you.

The cream one is another one from Dawn. The pattern is so simple, yet so beautiful. I love how she use the reds, blues, etc with the cream. This one was quilted with a red thread. I like the way it turned out. The other is Joan's and her many scraps. What she does with scraps is always so beautiful. These are two talented people.

Our Boys

To shift away from quilting and sewing for the moment, I thought I'd share a couple of pictures of our "boys". One is Nicholas, one of our Maine Coons and the other 3 of our 4 peering out of our motor home door. We were visiting in Florida and the campground had plenty of squirrel entertainment for the boys. As you can see------- they had a good time. Of course we had to bribe the squirrels with hamster food, but what the heck. It was cheap entertainment.

Travel Tote Bag

I am posting this picture at the request of my Sewing 101 class. This is one of my favorite things. It is huge and can be used as a travel bag or tote bag. I use it to transport my quilting tools and projects to my classes. It will hold my cutting mat/ironing board and has room for everything except my sewing machine. Of course the fabric is so gorgeous. The pattern is from Tammy Tadd, "You Go Girl".

Lone Star Quilt

I hope my customer Ann won't mind my posting a picture of her Lone Star quilt. She did a beautiful job hand piecing this very large king size quilt. I finally completed the quilting for her and had to take a couple of pictures. Great job Ann !!!! I love this quilt !!

New Year's Day

We spent New Year's in Douglasville with "the kids"and grandkids. Great food and lots of fun. As

usual we ate too much ham, beef, veggies and of course the traditional chocolate fountain with strawberries and Glynda made her first Whoopie pies--ummmm. Good job!

Each couple received their non-Christmas gift a queen size quilt. These were all LL patterns Sweet and Simple. I'm going to wear that book out making quilts from it--but they are just so easy and fun. The lavender one is for Greg and Desiree. The blue and yellow for Glynda and Chris and the red and green for Alan and Colleen.

Well, Christmas is finally over. What a busy time. The "kids" (all adults) are getting queen size quilts for their beds this year. Ryan (the youngest at 30) and Najla received their quilt at Christmas. They seemed to be very happy with it. Here's a picture. The fabric is Urban Couture and the pattern is Kathy's "Cute and Comfy" book from Lavender Lime. The quilting pattern is a new one called Aloha. The fabric, colors and pattern just seemed to fit Ryan and Najla's home.

On New Year's the other "kids" will get their quilts. Hope they like them. I'll post the pictures later.

Great G-daddy's Photo Green Bag

My 87 yr old father recently became a Great grandfather when my nephew Tony and his wife Jenn had a bouncing baby boy (Mason McKinley). Since my father is currently in a rehab center recuperating I thought it would be nice for him to have a easy way to carry things about.

This is the tote bag I made for him out of a grocery green bag. You can get this now at all the grocery stores and Walmart for a $1. I covered the bag with fabric and photos of my dad with his family and even his kitty Sandy.

New Handbag

I thought I would share a picture of the new handbag I made. It is a new pattern at LL from Turkey Tracks called "Tote All". It has a pocket on the front and back and was fun and easy to make. I just love those batiks!

I can't believe that it is almost Christmas.

This is a busy time of year for longarm quilters. We are all busy with those last minute Christmas quilts for those special people in our lives. You can't give a better gift than some thing that you made especially for that person that has meant so much to you. I know I love getting and giving those types of gifts.

Even Bentley is geting ready for the Holiday Season.
